Fitting technology, and what each tool is for
Tools do not fit you. A fitter does. The tools let us see what the eye misses and show you that a change helped. Here is the technology we use, and what each piece is for, with nothing oversold.
Velogic Studio 3D motion capture
Two time-of-flight cameras, one each side, track your joints in three dimensions with no markers. The 3D data is drawn straight onto synchronized video of you pedalling.
- Tells us
- Knee, hip, ankle, and torso angles through the whole stroke, knee tracking from the front, left against right, and how it all drifts as you tire.
- Why it matters
- Every position is captured and logged, so two setups can be overlaid on the same video and compared side by side. You see the change, not just hear about it.
Power and cadence, live
The trainer or your power meter feeds the capture over ANT+, so every position is recorded with the watts and cadence you produced in it.
- Tells us
- Whether a change cost or gained you power at the same effort, and whether your pedalling smooths out or falls apart when the position moves.
- Why it matters
- A position that looks right and feels fine but drops your output is not finished. Numbers settle it.
Retül Müve fit bike
Every contact point moves, it takes your own saddle, bars, and pedals, and it can be set to any bike's geometry.
- Tells us
- How a change feels and performs, position against position, without touching your bike until we are sure.
- Why it matters
- Adjustments happen between short rides rather than mid-pedal, so you feel each change fresh. It is also how Fit Before You Buy works with no bike in the room.
Bike documentation and Bike Finder
A measuring wand records your bike, or the fit bike, to the millimetre. Those coordinates are matched against Velogicfit's database of 18,000 bikes.
- Tells us
- Exactly where your saddle and bars sit relative to the bottom bracket, and which frames and stems from any brand will reproduce that position.
- Why it matters
- Your fit becomes a set of numbers you can take anywhere, and a new bike can be sized before it is ordered rather than after it arrives.
Alongside those, the ordinary tools still do most of the work: laser level, goniometer, plumb line, inclinometer, and shoe and foot measuring. What we don't have is saddle pressure mapping or a wind tunnel. If your case needs one of those, we will say so and point you to a studio that has it.
Data over opinion
Every adjustment is checked against the numbers, not a rule of thumb from 1985. If a change doesn't improve something we can measure, it doesn't stay.
Your feedback over data
The numbers narrow the choices. You decide what feels right, and we'll tell you if the data disagrees. Nobody leaves in a position they don't like.
What you take home
A fit is only as good as what you can do with it later. You leave with the bike set up and the numbers to rebuild it on any bike, anywhere.
- Written fit reportEvery measurement, every change we made and why, photos and video from before and after, and what to try if something flares up.
- Your position as coordinatesSaddle and bar positions relative to the bottom bracket. Hand these to any shop, builder, or future fitter.
- A record that stays on fileCome back in five years with a new bike and we start from where we left off, not from zero.
- Component recommendations, if anyOnly what the fit showed you need, with sizes. We'll fit parts you buy elsewhere at no charge within the follow-up window.
If it isn't right, we keep working
Ride the new position for a few weeks. Any adjustment within 60 days is free. After that, follow-up visits are $95 for riders we've fitted, for as long as you own the bike.
